There’s something very satisfying about picking your own fruit. Yes I know it’s more work. And sometimes you get all sweaty and sore from bending over to pick fruit from the tree or bush. But it’s much better seeing where the fruit came from and what was done to it before you put it in your mouth.
The other day I took the kids raspberry picking. It was fun because I’ve never been raspberry picking before. The kids were eating them straight off the bush. I think LJB had an empty bucket by the time we had to leave. Or he never put anything in it because it was all in his tummy.
Anyways, with my abundance of raspberries I decided to make a raspberry frozen yogurt. Added some chocolate chips and I was all set!
Start with your raspberries in the bottom of a food processor.
Add yogurt and honey for a little natural sweetener. You can omit the honey if your raspberries are super sweet. Or change the amount.
Puree for about 3 minutes – or until smooth.
Place in ice cream maker and let process.
When it’s almost to the right consistency, add the chocolate chips.
Then place in a freezer safe dish to harden the rest of the way.
It’s good on it’s own or serve with chocolate sauce. Enjoy!
2 pints raspberries (fresh picked or store-bought)
1 quart plain greek yogurt (non-fat or 2%)
1/3 cup honey
chocolate chips (optional)
Wash raspberries and place in the bowl of a food processor. Add yogurt and honey. Process for about 3 minutes or until smooth. Place in the bowl of an ice cream maker and let run. When almost frozen, add chocolate chips. Remove and place in a freezer-safe container to harden the rest of the way. Serve plain or with chocolate sauce.
