Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and Parmesan Cheese

Yep I went there.  I took a healthy vegetable like brussel sprouts and I added bacon and parmesan cheese.    Brussel sprouts are one of my favorite vegetables.  I love how they look like teeny tiny cabbages.  And I love how when you cook them the right way they become almost sweet and very addicting.   It probably wasn’t necessary for me to add the bacon and parmesan cheese, but I made these for Christmas dinner and I thought the parmesan cheese would add a little saltiness and the bacon would add a little decadence.  This recipe was super simple and the results were delicious!

Start by cooking your diced bacon in a frying pan.  When crispy, add the shredded brussel sprouts.  Cook for about 4 – 5 minutes.  Add pepper.

Add about 3 Tablespoons of water and cover with a lid.  Let cook for about 7 – 10 more minutes.

Remove the lid and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.  Serve immediately.

1-2 lbs brussel sprouts, shredded
3 slices bacon, diced
3 Tablespoons water
1/2 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup parmesan cheese

In a medium frying pan, cook the diced bacon until crispy.  Add shredded brussel sprouts and pepper and saute for about 4 – 5 minutes.   Add about 3 Tablespoons water and cover with a lid.  Cook for an additional 7 – 10 minutes until the brussel sprouts are tender.  Remove the lid, sprinkle with parmesan cheese and serve immediately.
