Toast is all the rage now-a-days. Personally, I like toast because there’s carbs involved. And deliciousness. If that’s really a word. Toast is a good excuse to use carbs as a vehicle for what you really want to eat. In a creative way. You can pretty much make toast any way you want, it’s up to your own taste buds and how creative you want to get with what you have on hand and what you want to eat.
I usually think of toast as kind of a last resort meal for the kids since it’s pretty easy to get the them to eat it with butter and jam or cinnamon sugar. I’m not usually a big toast person, unless I have no time or energy to fix anything else. But I’ve recently seen a lot of people eating avocado toast. So I decided to make my own version since I had an avocado on hand.
Start by mashing your avocado in a bowl and adding seasonings. I used a bit of garlic salt, pepper and crushed red pepper.
Toast your bread. Spread on the avocado. Top with chopped green onions and a drizzle of olive oil. Enjoy!
1/2 ripe avocado
1 slice of bread (any kind – I used tomato/basil bread)
garlic salt, pepper, crushed red pepper (to taste)
chopped green onions
extra virgin olive oil
Mash avocado in a bowl. Add garlic salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper to taste. Toast bread. Spread avocado on bread. Top with green onions and a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil.
