Martha’s Buttermilk Pancakes

So there’s always much debate on the best buttermilk pancake recipe.  And what kind of pancake…blueberry, strawberry, banana, chocolate chip?  I’m not a huge sweet breakfast person.  I prefer bacon and eggs.  But of course KB and my tiny humans prefer pancakes and french toast.  KB will only eat his with maple syrup. Hence the reason we always have a jug or two or four on hand.

Anyways, the other day KB wanted breakfast for dinner.  And he wasn’t talking about bacon and eggs much to my chagrin.  So he suggested pancakes.  And I had a bunch of fruit I wanted to use up, so I suggested a MYO buttermilk pancake bar.  And we had sausage, strawberries, blueberries, and chocolate chips in our pancakes. I threw the sausage in there since I’m more of a savory person, and everyone was happy!  I’m pretty sure we were all in the clean plate club.

The recipe I wound up using for my pancakes was Martha Stewart’s buttermilk pancake recipe.  I figure, you can’t go wrong with Martha.  And I was right!  Here’s a link:

Mix dry ingredients together.

Add wet ingredients.

Don’t overmix.

Set up your topping bar (this part wasn’t from Martha).

Make your pancakes in a hot griddle.  Sprinkle toppings on pancakes before you flip.

Flip over and let cook on both sides until golden brown.

Serve with butter and maple syrup!
